Check out these 10 tips below and be sure to put them to good use this spring. And if you’re looking to upgrade your ride, our team here at Joe Cooper Ford Shawnee is ready to assist you! Hurry on in today!

  1. Set some time aside to tackle the project, back-to-back days without any rain or cold temperatures are ideal.
  2. Don’t tackle it by yourself. Ask for help so these tasks don’t become overwhelming.
  3. Categorize your items inside your garage. For example, camping gear, recreational sporting gear, tools, garden/ lawn care gear, etc.
  4. Group your items once you’ve categorized them. Use cardboard boxes to help you group items and keep like items together.
  5. Don’t purchase bins or containers before measuring or knowing where they are going to live.
  6. Trash or donate items that no longer have a use, are old/ expired or that simply do not fit into your keep categories. When it comes to chemicals, properly discard of them. Chemicals can cause damage to the environment.
  7. Determine the best layout and where items are going to live. Use up all of the space you have available, like using pegboards for vertical de-clutter or high shelves for items that are not used very often.
  8. Install built-in cabinets or modular storage if needed or if you have space. As we stated before, be sure to measure before purchasing and avoiding the headache of returning when your storage options don’t fit.
  9. Relocate your belongings into their new designated homes.
  10. Set a schedule and stick to it. Whether you’re hoping to clean the garage annually, biannually or monthly, set a plan and stick to it!
